- Meet your guide and sommelier at this family owned winery and begin with a walk through the vines where picking and tasting the grapes is welcomed. Be sure to wear closed toe shoes. While learning about the local Sangiovese grape, known as Prugnolo Gentile — used to make Vino Nobile di Montepulciano — your guide explains how this wine producing region rose to earn the highest DOCG rating, and the role played by this winery.
- The tour continues to the outdoor crushing area where the transformation from grape to wine begins and then moves inside among the French oak barrels in the aging cellars.
- After exploring the art of wine making, participants are led to the tasting room where four estate wines are uncorked. Reminiscent of cherry and other black fruits, the selection includes: Rosso di Montepulciano DOC, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG, a reserve Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and an award winning Super Tuscan cabernet. A selection of Tuscan salumi, bruschetta with extra virgin olive oil and fresh tomatoes and three kinds of fresh pecorino cheese accompany the tasting.
- Guests may purchase these highly rated vintages and arrange for insured shipping back home. An important note: On-site purchases are exempt from local taxation making for some great bargains.
This Actividayz does not accept participants under the age of 12.
