Design a Tuscan Ceramic

Montecatini Alto is a medieval Tuscan hill town that lies midway between Florence and Lucca, overlooking the fabled spas of Montecatini Terme. Along its winding lanes is the bottega of a well-known Tuscan artist. Gilda has taught ceramic art at the Institute of Belle Arti in Florence. Her works have been featured on Italian television as well as in numerous exhibitions. Gilda welcomes you with warmth, a glass of Vin Santo wine and cantucci cookies as she proceeds to teach you how to decorate a fine ceramic keepsake.

Details

  • Meet Gilda at her studio in Montecatini Alto. While everyone dons potter's aprons (provided) and settles in at their individual workstations, enjoy a glass of Vin Santo and some cantucci almond dipping cookies. Through the aid of a translator, Gilda explains each step in creating a Tuscan ceramic.
  • Each participant selects a ceramic "palette" on which to replicate a Tuscan motif. This could be a plate, bowl or a tile. The use of quick-drying acrylic paint allows you to take your Tuscan creation home that very day.
  • As you prepare to leave with your Tuscan keepsake, Gilda reveals insider tips on area restaurants worth exploring. Participants are free to admire the works in her gallery and receive generous discounts on any purchase.
